The incredible city of Valencia will be the place to be in 2022, apart from being the World Design Capital, the city won the European Capital of Smart Tourism and will be hosting the Michelin Guide Gala for Portugal and Spain 2022, taking place on December 14th of 2021.

European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022
The city of Valencia has been designated as the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2022, thanks to its innovative solutions applied to tourism.
"This choice has been endorsed by projects developed in the city to promote innovative, sustainable, inclusive and design tourism," said the Valencian mayor, Joan Ribó. The Spanish city competed with other European cities of reference in terms of sustainability such as Copenhagen (Denmark). Among the city's landmark projects, is a study of the carbon footprint generated by tourism "to guarantee sustainable development in the tourist territory, which means betting on smart tourism," said the mayor.
Valencia World Design Capital 2022
The World Design Capital is designated every two years by the World Design Organization (WDO), the objective is to recognize cities that use design as a tool to stimulate economic, social, cultural and environmental development. A few cities to be recognized in the past were Turin, Seoul, Helsinki, Cape Town, Taipei, Mexico City and Lille.
Valencia will be the World Design Capital for 2022, this title will mark the beginning of a series of cultural events throughout 2021 and 2022 that aim to establish a “legacy of design”. The work developed in Valencia over the last hundred years in the areas of design, architecture, interior design and illustration, positioned the city as one of the most creative cities in Spain.
Michelin Guide Spain and Portugal 2022
The city of Valencia has been chosen to host the Gala of the Michelin Guide Spain & Portugal 2022. This event will take place on December 14th of 2021, at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, will present the new selection of restaurants distinguished with a star.
It’s the first time Valencia will host such event; it will be both face-to-face and digital, to comply with the current sanitary restrictions.
