Let me tell you our story!
Fernanda, Global Sales & Communication Manager at Abreu Events
How are you adjusting to current home base reality?
At the beginning it took me some discipline, I had to create my own little office environment, create my new routine and getting dressed I was going to the office was crucial to start my day… then it’s working as usual, been in touch with my colleagues on a regular basis, having a few conference calls throughout the day.
Funny enough, my challenge has been with my two small dogs, I live in an apartment… keeping both my dogs away and quiet, is interesting to say the least. I did allow them to be with me a couple of times, this scenario happened, halfway through a Zoom call, I had one of them crawling up my leg wanting some attention, whilst I’m trying to keep a normal face for my colleagues and discretely trying to make my dog stop. Now, I think is safe to say, they’re starting to understand that if I’m at my desk and not giving them attention that they’ve to put their best behaviour on…!
Developing or perfecting hobbies?
The current situation is doing wonders in this department, I grew up doing sports in school and university, and since I’ve enter the workplace I’m used to going to the gym at least 3 times a week. Now that I’m home, I have found a few online coaches that I like, I exercise every day for at least 30 minutes with barely any breaks and also take my dogs for daily afternoon works for 30 minutes to catch some fresh air. On the other side of the spectrum, I love cooking sweets my favourites are petit gateaux, apple and peach crumble, brigadeiros (Brazilian chocolate fudge), coconut mousse. I have a theory that if you’re going to spoil yourself to sweet, you have to do it well… so mainly on the weekends I’ve been pampering my family with a sweet delight!
On a more academic side, I also wanted to perfect my knowledge on Google Analytics; therefore I started an online course!
What are you truly missing from....?
Even though I’m based in Lisbon, the south of Portugal has a soft spot in my heart, on most long weekends I love driving down to escape from the city life. I do missing walks on the endless beaches with golden cliffs, going to Ria Formosa during the morning to do stand-up paddle, going to the Olhão Market to my fresh ingredients and being in touch with local community or simply going to rustic restaurant to eat the freshest seafood.
On a work perspective, I do come to the Algarve for group operations, it is the perfect location for a car launch and provide clients with incredible self-drive experiences. I do miss the thrill of being on-site for this kind of event to ensure everything runs perfectly and flawless!
