Let me tell you our story!
Manuel, Global Sales and Operations Manager at Abreu Events
How are you adjusting to current home base reality?
I think the word challenge will be the perfect one to describe it! I have two very energetic kids that usually do a lot of sports… therefore my living room is actually a football field and my balcony is a roller rink! Furthermore, they’ve both started virtual classrooms, so, instead of two, I have forty little voices in my head at the same time!
Jogging in the early morning, before my kids wake-up is the key to keep my sanity, and before Abreu Events morning meetings too! Apart from that, new technology platforms are allowing us to be in contact with teams and clients, therefore even from home it´s possible to keep the job done!
Developing or perfecting hobbies?
Well, it´s time to LEGO again! I always loved it and during this quarantine I have invaded my kid’s room! Castles, boats, cars, airplanes, a little bit of everything! Apart from these standard constructions, LEGO also offers the possibility of purposeless and pressure-free creativity which is perfect to stimulate the brain and the mind!
This period is also giving me the opportunity to fully immerse into the world of literature! Intense crime novels and travels reports are what I prefer. I love when I start a new novel, it´s gives me the same feeling of opening a gift. Travel reports, apart from the leisure of reading it, also helps me to improve my work skills, as it´s an easy way to get into other cultures around the world.
What are you truly missing from Lisbon?
From a personal perspective, I truly miss surfing and having dinner with friends in a local restaurant. Oh, how I miss a fresh grilled fish in the Guincho area and the seafood from hidden fisherman restaurants! I am also addicted to music, so I am always dreaming about some loud music in a bar and the funny moments during summer festivals.
From a working perspective, the fantastic experience of preparing a gala dinner in a non-conventional venue is something that I miss a lot. The planning and set-up, the suppliers moving around, our teams double checking every single detail and, of course, that unique moment where the guests get in to enjoy their meal and to have fun in the after party. I must confess that I´m also missing the rush hour in an airport and the stress of being on time for meetings on sales calls…
