The best of Madrid’s gastronomy enjoyed in nature
Casa de Campo
With its 1,535.52 hectares, Casa de Campo is the natural space and largest public park in Madrid. The history of the Casa de Campo began with the decision of Felipe II to move the Court to Madrid and reside there and transform this space into his place of recreation and hunting. With the arrival of the Second Republic (1931) the space was ceded to the people of Madrid who have since made it their favourite park.
Within it, in addition to other things, is El Lago, a large artificial lake with an area of 80,150 square meters and the perfect place to enjoy nature while having a drink in the bars and restaurants located around it, as well as to practice nautical sports or rent one of their boats.
And right at the foot of this lake we find two new gastronomic offers. On one hand, we have Villa Verbena, a space with 600 m2, divided between an outdoor gazebo and a glazed area known as "El Pabellón". It also has a bar space where there are high tables and tables with an informal touch where you can have a snack. Its cuisine is made up of grilled meats and vegetables, but also small portions and tapas, which is very present and traditional in Madrid’s gastronomy.
On the other hand, we find El Taller, a space that combines gastronomy, sports, and beer, in which, in addition to enjoying recipes where smoked and coal are a common denominator. The premises, of 600 m2 and with capacity for 400 people, have been conceived as a meeting point between athletes after finishing their physical activity and walkers who want to enjoy the best gastronomy. Its menu stands out for its marked international character, as well as, for its wide variety of beers.
