Let me tell you our story!
Andrea, Barcelona Operations Manager at Abreu Events
How are you adjusting to current home base reality?
At the beginning, it was difficult I had to adapt one area of my house into a little office to keep working... nobody expected the world to suddenly be paralyzed! Working hours are different, missing to see my team in the office, our personal (and not virtual) meetings, our lunch times together, planning where to go to discover new places, venues, hotels, activities to include in our proposals.
But after a few conference calls you realize that we're all the same situation, and that helped to me to adapt myself to our new reality even more!
Developing or perfecting hobbies?
Well, I am an early riser, I like to go to the gym before going to work, it gives me energy to start my day! As I can’t do that now, I’m trying to stay healthy and keep activate, so I found online channels and I do them every day before I start working. As a new hobby, I’ve been adventuring myself in the kitchen, I don’t normally cook in my household, but now I decided to jump into the gastronomy world and developing new skills… I have to say I prefer salty dishes than desserts and I can cook you a nice "potatoes tortilla".
Especially on weekends, I spend some time relaxing at the couch as I watch a TV Show on Netflix and maybe have some salty popcorn with it… Or finding a silent and cozy space at the house where I can read my book.
What are you truly missing from Barcelona?
I truly miss from Barcelona, the sunny days, the amazing walks through the Gothic Quarter, making strategic stops taste delicious tapas... I miss to see its monuments with long queues and people patiently waiting to visit them, such as, La Sagrada Familia, Park Güell… Las Ramblas full of colour expelling its unique excitement and creating its very own atmosphere. The beaches along Barceloneta and their lounge vibe "chiringuito bars", people sitting on the sand and sunbathing while having a drink.
From a personal side, I miss going to Costa Brava or Sitges during the weekends, spend the day there with friends, eating nice paella or cooking a barbeque.
A little something to keep dreaming...
