Building traditions hand-in-hand with local people
Engaging teambuilding activities
Valencia is a sassy and innovative city with a thriving cultural, dining and nightlife scenes. It will amaze you by the magnificent setting that carefully blends the modernity and ancient safeguarding centenary traditions and festivities.
Abreu Events developed teambuilding activities that will help guests to engage with Valencia’s culture, tradition and gastronomy.
The Fallas festival origin is unsure, yet most say it’s an old carpenter’s tradition, when celebrating the arrival of spring on 19th of March (night of the patriot Saint San José) they used to burn pieces of wood that were used to lit up their lights during the winter. The bonfire started to get more sophisticated by adding old belongings and rags, which gave the wooden structure a human-looking aspect called “Ninots”. Nowadays, Ninots are extraordinary figures of cardboard stone to decorate the streets, waiting to be burned on the night of San José. In this activity, after listening to the secrets and stories from the Fallas masters, they’ll help guests to make their own Ninots, by sanding, painting and assembling all the pieces... defying guests commitment, imagination and creativity.
The delicious paella also has unsure origin, there’s an ancient story about the Moorish kings servants creating rice dishes by mixing the leftovers from the royal banquets in large pots to take home. But the reality is, it wasn’t until mid-19th century that modern paella was created in the region of L’Albufera. As field workers would make rice dishes in a flat pan over a fire with ingredients they could find as vegetables, onions, beans, rabbit, duck, snails. Today paella is made in every region of Spain, using just about any ingredient that goes well with rice. There are as many versions of paella as there are cooks. Our paella teambuilding activity can be done in two stunning locations, in the impressive region of L’Albufera, Albufera Natural Park is one of Spain's most spectacular wetland areas surrounded by picturesque villages or in the traditional farmhouse Xamandreu – a typical Valencian 19th century mansion. Regardless of the chosen location, the group will discover the secrets behind the recipe of the traditional but international Spanish dish by a chef. Then, a fun competition will start as teams have to make their own paella from scratch and in the end they will discover who made the most delicious paella.
Other teambuilding and group activities not necessarily related to the traditions of the Valencian land are Spanish tapas including typical regional drinks workshop (Horchata, Agua de Valencia), traditional and sport games on the city's extensive beaches or exciting tours around Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.
