Abreu Events awarded as Portugal's Leading DMC
The 25th edition of the World Travel Awards took place in Athens on the 30th of June. An entity who serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
Throughout the event Portugal was awarded a total of 36 prizes, it’s an incredible honor for Portugal to have won these awards. As Portugal’s Secretary of State for Tourism said last year at WTA in Vietnam about the country “An authentic, innovative, reinvented country that combines a wide variety of experiences and landscapes, a country that combines cosmopolitanism, history, tradition, sun, nature and gastronomy. A country that knows and enjoys to welcome everyone.”
From our list of prizes, there are a few worth emphasizing, starting with the fact that Portugal won for the second consecutive time Europe’s Leading Destination. The capital, Lisbon, also got award as Europe’s Leading City Destination running against other grand European destinations. These awards privileged our islands as well; Madeira Island won the prize for Europe’s Leading Island Destination for the fifth time.
However, we are honored to announce that Abreu Events won the prize of Portugal’s Leading Destination Management Company, recognition of our work that began in 1978 and hopefully will continue to thrive for many years to come. We’ve been a case study of success that has crossed generations and constantly adapting itself, always providing innovative and creative solutions.
