Porto hosts one of the world’s most prestigious conferences on cognitive neuroscience

From September 15 to 20, 2025, the city of Porto will become the global hub for cognitive neuroscience research by hosting ICON 2025 – International Conference on Cognitive Neuroscience.
With a tradition dating back to 1980, ICON is recognized as one of the most prominent scientific events in the field of cognitive neuroscience. This biennial conference has become a key reference for researchers studying the connection between the brain, mind, and human behavior through techniques such as neuroimaging, brain stimulation, cognitive testing, and more.

A multidisciplinary and internationally relevant event
The 2025 edition in Portugal continues this legacy by bringing together scientists, academics, and professionals from diverse fields to share the latest advances and methodologies. The scientific program is broad and varied, including:

• - Plenary lectures by world-renowned researchers such as Gustavo Deco, Uta Noppeney, Giacomo Rizzolatti, Marta Garrido, and Todd Braver

ABC 8

The Advanced Breast Cancer Eighth International Consensus Conference (ABC 8) returns to Lisbon from November 6 to 8, 2025, reinforcing its position as the world’s leading event dedicated to advanced breast cancer. With an expanding international audience, ABC 8 is expected to gather over 1,200 participants from nearly 90 countries, including oncologists, surgeons, nurses, researchers, pharmaceutical industry representatives, policymakers, and patient advocacy groups.

Since its first edition, the conference has seen a significant increase in participation, reflecting the growing impact of its consensus guidelines on clinical practice worldwide. In 2023, ABC 7 welcomed 1,200 attendees (1,000 in person and 200 virtually), marking a notable rise from previous editions. The geographical diversity of participants highlights the conference’s global reach, with experts attending from Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.

ABC 8: A Leading Global Event
ABC 8 stands out as the premier conference dedicated to metastatic breast cancer, aiming to establish evidence-based international guidelines for the treatment and management of the disease. These guidelines, adopted and adapted by various healthcare organizations worldwide, play a crucial role in ensuring equitable access to innovative treatments and high-quality care.

Organized by the ABC Global Alliance, the conference fosters collaboration among healthcare professionals, researchers, patients, advocacy groups, and the industry, providing a platform for knowledge exchange, discussion of scientific advancements, and the identification of future priorities. This year, ABC 8 will feature a highly anticipated moment: the launch of the Global Decade Report 2.0 (2015-2025), which will evaluate the progress made over the past decade and establish new goals for 2025-2035.

CIECA 2025

CIECA 2025 is coming to Portugal, and Abreu Events is honored to be the Professional Congress Organizer (PCO) for this prestigious international event. The 57th CIECA General Assembly and Congress will take place in Porto from May 27 to 30, 2025, bringing together experts in road safety, driver education, and mobility to discuss and develop innovative solutions towards the Vision Zero goal.

CIECA 2025: A Global Impact Event
Under the theme Assessing the Difference – Different Strategies Towards a Common Goal: Vision Zero, CIECA 2025 will provide a platform for discussion on the challenges of driver assessment, considering individual, technological, and cultural differences. Experts from around the world will present studies and strategies to enhance the way drivers are tested, aiming to reduce road accidents and save lives.
The event will be hosted by ANIECA, Portugal, an organization dedicated to road safety and improving driver training. The General Assembly and Congress will take place at the Sheraton Hotel Porto, located in the city center.
 

IFA 2025

From October 5 to 9, 2025, Lisbon will become the global hub for International Tax Law, hosting the 77th International Fiscal Association (IFA) Congress. This prestigious event will bring together experts from around the world, providing a prime venue for discussing the latest tax trends and emerging challenges in the field.
