IIBA 2027 Abreu Events Organizes the 28th IIBA International Conference in Peniche
The 28th IIBA International Conference will take place from 16 to 20 June 2027 at the MH Atlântico Hotel in Peniche, Portugal, bringing together an international community of therapists, colleagues, students and trainees to explore the present and future of Bioenergetic Analysis.
Under the theme “Bioenergetic Analysis in Motion: Rooted in Tradition, Opening to the Future”, the conference will mark the 70th anniversary of the International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis (IIBA), celebrating seven decades of history, scientific development and professional practice.
IIBA 2027: Tradition, Innovation and the Future of Bioenergetic Analysis
Founded by Alexander Lowen, building on the work of Wilhelm Reich, Bioenergetic Analysis continues to evolve through dialogue with contemporary scientific research and therapeutic practice.
IIBA 2027 will explore how this tradition can be integrated with developments in neuroscience, attachment theory, developmental psychology, trauma research and relational approaches. Through keynote presentations, panel discussions, experiential workshops and movement-based activities, participants will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, share experiences and explore new perspectives on the practice.
The conference will address key questions for the future of Bioenergetic Analysis: how to remain rooted in its foundations while continuing to evolve, how to support resilience and connection, and how to cultivate aliveness in therapists, clients and communities.
Celebrating 70 Years of History and Community
The 2027 edition will be an opportunity to celebrate the IIBA's 70th anniversary and the international community that has contributed to the development of Bioenergetic Analysis over the decades.
The programme will feature keynote speakers Louise Fréchette, Liane Zink and Heiner Steckel, alongside guest keynote speaker Thomas Harms. Panel discussions will include Avigail Shahar, Guy Tonella and Perisson Dantas.
The programme will combine plenary sessions, discussions, experiential breakout sessions, daily morning movement classes and opportunities for creative expression through movement and voice. Pre-conference workshops, a welcome reception and social activities, including a Saturday evening party and dance, will further encourage exchange and connection among participants.
