2026 HOSO Congress Three days of innovation, science and multidisciplinary collaboration in Orthopaedics, in Troia
From 8 to 10 October 2026, Troia will host one of the most relevant national scientific meetings dedicated to the musculoskeletal system. The Orthopaedics Congress of the Sant’Iago do Outão Orthopaedic Hospital (HOSO) will bring together specialists from different medical and scientific fields in an environment designed to promote knowledge, innovation and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Organised by the Orthopaedics Department of the Local Health Unit of Arrábida (ULSA), the congress will take place at The Anchor Troia Hotel and will feature the participation of orthopaedic surgeons, physiatrists, physiotherapists, nurses, hospital administrators and other healthcare professionals, establishing itself as a space for scientific updating and clinical debate.
Under the presidency of Dr. Carlos Ribeiro, Director of the Orthopaedics Department of the Sant’Iago do Outão Orthopaedic Hospital, the event has been structured to address the current challenges of clinical practice, promoting a practical, integrated approach oriented towards the reality of contemporary hospital care.
A scientific programme built around clinical practice
Over two and a half days of scientific sessions, the HOSO Congress 2026 will present a comprehensive and multidisciplinary programme focused on the main pathologies of the musculoskeletal system and the latest therapeutic and technological approaches.
Round tables and conferences will cover topics such as hip, knee, shoulder, foot and ankle surgery, paediatric orthopaedics, trauma, sports medicine, pain management, orthopaedic infection, rehabilitation and osteoporotic spinal fractures.
The congress will also highlight emerging areas that are increasingly present in hospital practice, such as robotic surgery, artificial intelligence applied to the National Health Service, and new models of healthcare management and innovation.
Among the national and international guests are specialists from Portugal, Spain, Germany, Italy and Poland, offering a broader perspective on the challenges and trends in contemporary orthopaedics.
One of the highlights will be the participation of former professional football player Ricardo Quaresma, included in a session dedicated to high-performance sports injuries, functional recovery and return to sport.
Science and networking in a unique setting
More than a space for scientific updating, the HOSO Congress 2026 aims to create an environment conducive to sharing experiences and strengthening relationships between professionals from different institutions and specialties.
The choice of Troia reflects precisely this vision. Between the ocean, the mountains and the tranquillity of the region, the congress seeks to provide a balance between scientific rigour and an inspiring setting for networking and professional interaction.
The Anchor Troia Hotel will host all scientific sessions, offering a modern and comfortable environment for participants, speakers and partners.
The social programme will also include the Official Congress Dinner on 9 October at the Sado Comporta Restaurant. With privileged views over the estuary and the rice fields of Comporta, the venue promises a distinctive gastronomic experience, fostering closer interaction and networking among participants.
