The XXVI National Congress of the Portuguese Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (SPMFR) will take place from February 26 to 28, 2026, in the city of Braga. This flagship scientific meeting is expected to gather around 300 participants, including physiatrists, residents, researchers, and healthcare professionals from multiple disciplines, reinforcing the central role of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in a constantly evolving healthcare system.
 

A scientific program of national relevance

Under the theme “The New Era of Rehabilitation – Caring, Innovating, Leading”, the congress will feature a multidisciplinary program addressing some of the most relevant and pressing topics in the specialty:

 

• - Spinal interventions, with ultrasound- and fluoroscopy-guided demonstrations led by international experts;
• - Post-intensive care syndrome, through an integrated approach involving intensivists and physiatrists;
• - Oncological, geriatric, pediatric, and critical care rehabilitation, with innovative clinical perspectives;
• - Functional movement disorders, chronic pelvic pain, and biomechanics applied to neurological rehabilitation;
• - Fatigue in rehabilitation medicine, explored in its various clinical dimensions;
• - Reflections on entrepreneurship, management, quality, and accreditation in rehabilitation medicine.
   

In addition to round tables, the program will include symposia, lectures, oral communications, and poster sessions, as well as networking opportunities and the Congress Dinner, which will celebrate the specialty’s legacy and achievements.
