"New Golden Mile" in the capital Madrid, Spain
In Madrid, until now the urban space of the Salamanca district was known as the "Golden Mile" because of streets such as Serrano, Ortega y Gasset, Lagasca, etc., where the main high-end stores of the capital are located. However, people are beginning to talk about the "New Golden Mile" for another totally different area, between the Ópera and Calle Alcalá, which stands out not only for the large concentration of new luxury shops (mainly in the Canalejas Gallery), but also because of all the new luxury hotels that we can find.
The starting signal was marked by the opening of the Four Seasons in September 2020. It is the most luxurious hotel in the city, made up of seven perfectly integrated old buildings, with more than 200 rooms and an exclusive restaurant on the rooftop.
In these recent weeks Madrid is enjoying two more openings: Ocean Drive Madrid, in front of the Royal Theater, with 70 rooms and a more modern and casual flair; and the five-star hotel The Madrid Edition, a hotel with 200 rooms and an exquisite decoration, very close to the central Puerta del Sol, but with the tranquility provided by it’s location.
Additionally, it is also scheduled for the coming months, the JW Marriott Canalejas (the first of this brand in Spain), Thompson Madrid (after the opening of the Hyatt on the mythical Gran Vía at the end of 2017) and the Nobu Hotel, a chain belonging to Robert de Niro, following the same concept of a few other hotels of this well known chain, located in Barcelona, Ibiza and Marbella.
Moreover, let’s not forget other highly reputable hotels that have been in the capital for many years, such as, Gran Hotel Inglés, Urban Hotel or the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Madrid, that has been recently subject of renovations.
Madrid has taken advantage of recent years to turn its historic center into one of the most important luxury destinations in all of Europe!
