March 2023

On March 21st until 24th of March, Abreu Events organized a famtrip in the Northern Region of Spain, including Bilbao, San Sebastian, and La Rioja for the Benelux Market.

During the three days program, our attendees stayed in Catalonia Gran Hotel, a relatively new hotel opened in 2021, located at the heart of Bilbao, opposite Doña Casilda Park and extremely close to the Guggenheim Museum.  Take a glimpse at the program below:

Day 1 – Bilbao
Upon arrival we went directly to one of the greatest jewels in town: The Guggenheim Museum. Designed by American architect Frank Gehry, the museum represents a magnificent example of avant-garde architecture of 20th century. Then, visited Euskalduna Congress Palace one of the best congress centers in Europe! Finishing our day with a walking tour through the marvelous streets of the old quarter whilst stopping to taste traditional pintxos in a few bars.

Day 2 – San Sebastian
In San Sebastian had a panoramic stop to appreciate one of the city’s highlights, Monte Igueldo (where the beautiful Concha Bay is located). Walked through old quarter of the city, to reach the unique San Telmo Museum, a multi-disciplinary center in an old 16th century convent that’s divided into three sections (Fine Art, History and Archaeology). Proceeded to Petritegi Cider Place, an amazing cider factory that we visited followed by a tasting and lunch. We couldn’t leave San Sebastian without tasting one of their unique wines, stopped at Cellar Talaiberri of Txakoli. Back in Bilbao, we had dinner at La Viña del Ensanche a trendy restaurant in town.

Day 3 – La Rioja
Started the day in the village of Haro, visited Bilbainas Cellar, hundred-year-old winery with historic building and one of the largest underground cellars in La Rioja, built in the 19th century and finished with a tasting. Then continued to Villa Lucia a unique gastronomical pearl that can cater small or large group meals, visited the location followed by delicious lunch. Our finally stop was La Guardia, one of the most important provinces in la Rioja with renowned wines, visited El Fabulista Cellar one of the largest and peculiar winery, as its set beneath the Palace of the Samaniego family dating back to the 17th century…
Finished our famtrip by dining at Michelin Star restaurant Zarate by the chef Sergio Ortiz de Zarate.
